This area of Pokerghetto is dedicated to the psychology of poker; addressing all the tips and tricks that can improve your game. We examine styles of play, likely tells and how to spot them, give advice on game-play and more. By bridging the cerebral world of psychology with the hard-earned experience of the poker player, you’ll get an inside look into the minds of your opponents and a level of understanding that will help you get started or take your game to the next level.

Poker Face: How do you play?

Newbies to the game of poker should take a minute to assess what type of player they are. Taking a look at your style of play will not only make you more aware of your own game’s strengths and weaknesses (i.e it will force you to look at yourself in the way an opponent might so you can identify your tells, level of predictability and so on), it will also make you acutely aware of your what your opponent is up to. Take a look at the four key types of player to decide which one you are and what table behaviour you might portray or see if you can recognise it in others…

Hand tells: Are you chip-faced?

The way players handle their chips is one of the biggest tells in poker. A player may be doing everything possible to hide tells on their face but forget what their hands are up to in the meantime. Check out how the way in which a player interacts with their chips can give away their hand.
