Doyle Brunson

NICKNAME:
Texas Dolly

Aggressive

FELT ACCESSORIES:
Signature cowboy hat.

TABLE MANNERS:
Always in the action. Air of distinction. Lots of wisdom and experience clearly applied to every hand.

POKER BLING:
Still going strong in his 70’s, and having written ground-breaking books on poker, Doyle is one of the few veteran’s who’s still winning. He has 10 WSOP bracelets to his name and a hand named after him. A 10-2 is called a ‘Doyle Brunson’ as he won both his main event WSOP bracelets with that hand. Regarded as the ‘godfather’ of poker.

RUMOUR HAS IT:
Doyle has a 10/1 $1000 bet in place with webmaster Mack Rawden that he will not die in 2009. Mack published a ‘most likely to die in 09′ article to which Brunson objected. Proceeds from the outcome will go to the American Cancer Society.

FAMOUS PROP BETS:
Most famous would be his $1m win when a group of players bet him at 10/1 on a $100k wager that he wouldn’t get below 300Ib on a weight loss challenge. Doyle’s obesity favoured the group but his determination saw him win a tidy sum.
